While I have it sitting around somewhere at home, I still haven't watched number 3.

Licorice Pizza

A great comedy set during the 70's. Film might upset some as the relationship is between a 25 year old woman and a 15 year old man, film also set a tone during the period where one of the characters puts on a mocking accent when talking to his Japanese wives.

Land

A slow drama, but one that is not long. This can be very relatable to those who have had traumatic experiences growing up, socially awkward and introverts as the main character doesn't like to be around people alot. She isolates herself from the outside world including the things we may take for granted such as cars and phones. The film eventually shows to bring her faith into humanity again.

Heatwave

A murder film which involves 2 main female leads. One of their lives takes a turn when her lover happens to be the bosses wive. Soon the boss is dead and she is the number 1 suspect as she fights for her innocence. The film has a few flaws in it plot hole but was a enjoyable watch. This film doesn't have a usual suspect, but multiple suspects all related to the crime. Add also the 2 main female leads are very sexy

Swat

Film has a good cast, even though the film is not a blockbuster, it still enjoyable to watch. Stars include, Samuel Jackson, Colin Farrell and Michelle Rodriguez who seems to pull off these roles very well as a bad ass chick and looking sexy doing it too. What i found surprising was a very young Jeremy Renner being the baddie.

Woman in Gold

Based on a true story, Helen Mirren played her part perfectly as a jewish refugee taking on the Austrian government who have made things hard in giving back artwork which belonged to her family. Not sure how much of this is true through, and what has been dramatized.

Us

From the same makers from Get out, this is a film about doppelgangers. Film has a great twist at the end and has a great build up and is greatly paced.

Midsommar

I didn't realise that the premise of this film is quite loosely based on an actual Swedish custom, where during this festival during the summer, one of the elders at the gathering allows themselves to be sacrificed. The main character starring Florence Pugh and her peers are shocked with their surroundings and wondered what they have come to by accepting their friends invite.

Boys from County Hell

More of a comedy horror, than a pure horror or comedy film.

Mona Lisa

Film starring the late Bob Hoskins as a criminal who has paid his dues and wants to start fresh with a new life, but doesn't seem the case when he lands up having to be the protector of a prostitute by his former boss starring Michael Caine.

Ammonite

Starring two great actresses in Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan who have a lesbian relationship during the 1840's period. Film is meant to be historically accurate with sources. Film is a bit slow in parts but the scenes of passion is one to not miss, in particular the one where they have oral sex.

The Mist

Film based on the Stephen Kings book. It had a very war of the worlds vibe to it. When some disaster comes into force, it brings everyone to breaking point for survival, some turning on each other, some making alliances to those they would never in normal circumstances. This is more applicable with people who are generally good. i like that everyone was in the supermarket trying to survive and alot of the action happens there.

Dream Horse

A light hearted film about someone who has no background with horses, with the help of the community helps raise it.

Loveless

A russian film about a kid who is caught in the middle of a vicious divorce and the parents don't realise what they are putting him through till he disappears and it's just a matter of finding him. Think there has been hollywood versions of this, but might be having bias that foreign films with their native tongue feels more raw when they do scenes, even if they do it with minimum effort. Believe alot of divorces have involved things like this

Crawlspace

Enjoyable film even if the premise sounds a bit daft with a ex military guy, now a plumber who witness a murder when going to do a job, and hides for most of the film away from the killers in the crawlspace. Film is set in a quiet rural area as they have sheriffs running the town. From what i see rural towns aren't what they are crack to me, and with the people there got to think who can you really trust as they might be corrupt.

Testament of Youth

Based on memoirs of Vera Brittain, who wants to escape from her privilege life and to be a war nurse during world war 1. Film is very emotional at parts with the deaths and Alicia Vikander does her role perfectly as being the nurse who doesn't believe in the violence and deaths that the war has bought.

The Deep Blue Sea

Great performance by Rachel Weiz where film was adapted by a novel of the same name. She plays a role of someone who has an affair with a pilot which turmoil occurs where she has a tough dilemma on who to choose.

The House of Mirth

Another film which was based on a novel from the early 20th Century about her place in high society towards the end of the 19th Century. Gillian Anderson plays this British role to a tee. The ending to the film is quite emotional

Wildcard

Can't go wrong with a nice Jason Statham film for 90 minutes. All action and no nonsense.

Censor

Film set during the 1980's during the video nasty fiasco. This movie is quite clever piece of British horror of the phycological kind, where you wonder what you are watching, and who the actual monsters are. The ending is a huge twist that i did not expect but was cleverly put.

I smell PUSSY!
The Batman. I read in several places that it was one of the best movies of the year. I agree; I really liked it. Even though some of it was "off." Bruce Wayne dressed like he worked a minimum wage job (except for the scene where he exited the classic Corvette Convertible). Catwoman would have had her larynx shattered, when the mob boss slammed the pool cue down on her throat. And, at the end, dozens of dudes with scoped rifles SHOULD have shot Batman in the eye / face, where he was vulnerable?!

Pleasantly surprised at Zoe Kravitz - WHEN she had wigs on. And - whoa, did she take Tina Turner's lessons on how to walk in heels!

And, the Batmobile was SICK - particularly the scene where it was introduced!

Pans Labyrinth

Enjoy this fantasy film alot. Film is in spanish but doesn't take away how good this film is

Ava

Film felt a bit short, but the ending gives possibility of a sequel. Jessica Chastain nails it as the female lead assassin who tries to leave her former life behind.

The Specialist

Despite some of the scenes being corny and the special effects being a product of its time, the film was decent to watch. Sharon Stone during this era was mighty fine

You watch some good stuff, @usman19 . Your taste gets the Official Steve-FreeOnes Seal of Approval. And I don't hand it out much. Especially on here.

Anyway, here's the film of the year.

Well, I would say that you have to at least quite like some of her stuff to enjoy this. If you don't, don't bother. But it's a brilliant concert and filming of it, and it took me from being someone who liked some of her songs to just being a huge fan. Just an amazing spectacle.

Meander

A french film as i don't recognise it any of the cast members, but also seems to be a B movie as never seen this advertised in the cinemas unless it was in France.

Film seems similar to Saw, Hostel and Escape room, except that it solely revolves around one character. There isn't alot of characters in this film though. Main character plays her role well as the victim who has to go through past traumas and these games in order to survive.

Words on Bathroom Walls

A nice teen drama about a teenage boy who has a mental illness. When he has obstacles in his way, the girl he meets and falls in love with shows him how to rise above it. Film has been put out brilliantly, the main actor really does well with his role and you can feel for him and wanting him to succeed in the end.

The Big Man

A very young Liam Neeson in this boxing drama, where a average joe tries to make ends meet when he becomes a boxer much to the dismay of his wife. He later finds out this profession has an ulterior motive, one which he isn't aware of. Film is a bit dull and slow in parts but it does give a nice surviving at all costs vibes

Dual

What better than 1 Karen Gillan? But 2 Karen Gillan's. The film was a bit short for my liking but it was worth a watch. A sci fi thriller which has hints of comedy in with some real life ethical/moral undertones placed in for good measure. It's all about someone who thought she would die, and going to lengths to obtaining a clone to replace her when she gone. The clone right to the finer details is a copy of her in which you could not tell the difference. This plan goes south, and leads to the question if the clone or the original should stay alive.

Gunpowder Milkshake

Another Karen Gillan film as was in a mood to watch her films. This also stars a great cast of females to showcase the movie which involves Lena Headey, Michelle Yeoh and Carla Gugino. Think of it like a female John Wick film. There is action, comedy, and some awesome blood shots which really shows it well if you are lucky to watch this in a 4k version

X+Y

Sometimes the social outcasts, or the ones who have learning difficulties turn out to be very special, and that is whats shown here. A young kid who struggles around people who gets selected to go on a Maths Olympics to the other side of the world. Here he gains confidence in himself and also falls in love. Just shows that despite difficulties it shouldn't define you.

Colette

A writer who tries to challenge social gender norms of it's era through the means of her work following ghostwriting for her husband

Riders of Justice

A foreign film where a war veteran returns from the war in Afghanistan, to find out his wife has died in an accident, but he is to believe this isn't the case, and he makes it his mission to find out the real cause alongside his daughter. Film is a bit slow in places and isn't a fast paced action film, but the story line makes up for it. There isn't any memorable scenes though that would make you want to re watch.
